Co-Chair Pathology National Clinical Network

Health New Zealand
Dr Matt Rogers

Matt is a Consultant Microbiologist and Clinical Director of the Laboratory at Waitematā.

Matt moved to Aotearoa in 2015 from the UK where he was Clinical Lead for Microbiology at one of the UKs earliest pathology networks at Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services. Working across organisations early in his career shaped how he thinks about pathology—particularly the importance of scale, collaboration, and services that work for whole populations rather than stopping at geographic boundaries.

Matt was the Head of the Postgraduate School of Pathology at the West Midlands Deanery, with responsibility for pathology training programmes, he was also involved in the local rollout of the Modernising Scientific Careers programme. As Co-lead of the Pathology National Clinical Network, Matt works alongside the Programme team and scientific, medical, and operations leaders to strengthen connections across the system and support a more joined-up, high-quality national pathology service.
