Professor Cristin Print

Cris qualified in Medicine from Auckland Medical School in 1989 then began research while working as a house surgeon in Dunedin, NZ. A molecular immunology PhD in the University of Auckland led to a four-year postdoctoral period in the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne, before moving to Cambridge University, UK where he was a Fellow of St Edmund’s College and co-founded a genomics biotechnology company. In 2005 he returned to the University of Auckland where he leads a cross-disciplinary team of clinicians, biologists and data scientists who use genomics and related technologies to better understand a range of diseases. His team in particular works in the field of precision oncology. He is Bioinformatics director of Grafton Clinical Genomics and chairs the Scientific Board of the Auckland Regional Biobank. Previous roles include Director of NZ’s Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR), President of the NZ Society for Oncology and Sector Liaison for precision medicine in NZ’s Ministry of Health.
